🙏🏾 LP, Fam, thank you for joining us at Shifting Systems for Change: Celebrating the 2026 Create Change Fellowship! Together, we experienced just a glimpse of what's possible when neighbors come together, let creativity lead the way, and turn collective imagination into action.

A huge shoutout to our Board Member, Rasu Jilani, for joining Ayesha to facilitate such generative conversations about the role creativity can play in building our future. Our deepest gratitude to Weeksville Heritage Center for hosting us for the evening.

Stay tuned for our Create Change Open Call next year for information on how to apply to join the 2028 Cohort!

I spent a few hours at the @highlinenyc diving into @solangeknowles universe in collaboration with #chrome for their Unfinished Projects Exhibition.

If you know me, you know how much her work means to me. She’s the artist that inspires me the most as a multidisciplinary artist. Today was my first time interacting with her artistry in person, and I got to nerd out over her discography & work with a few other Solange fans.🥺

Solange has a way of finding me when I need it the most. Calling this expo inner teenager healing.

Thank you for your service @solangeknowles @google 🧚🏽‍♂️

Bronx Pride isn't just one day, it's a movement that lives all year long.

I'm teaming up with @nyctourism to celebrate Pride across all five boroughs, and this stop brought me to the Bronx.

I visited Pride Night at the @bronxmuseum, the 8th Annual @thebronxlgbtqexpo and Pride Night at @softspaces 🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The queer community is deeply rooted in the Bronx, but not enough people know its story.

Take a listen as @mars.orbit @con.p.tee and @deslikestorun share what Pride means to them, the work their organizations are doing for the LGBTQ+ community, and how the Bronx continues to show up, speak out, and create space for queer people to thrive.

Follow along as I celebrate Pride throughout New York City all season long.

What if we told you the future was already here?

Our 2026 Create and Change Fellowship cohort has just begun its six-month journey, where they will explore time as a relational field where memory, ritual, cosmology, and imagination converge to bring about the future we want to see in our communities.

Gathered around the theme Resonant Futures: Time as Echo, Memory, and Motion, this year’s cohort welcomes twelve fellows to explore this theme. Meet Mars Scott, Aida Sherif, and Valkyrie Yao, who, along with nine other artists, will learn to facilitate change in their community through art.

Mars Scott is a multidisciplinary artist whose work preserves the history and modernity of Blackness, queerness, and cultural visibility to examine how Black American queer identity, desire, and representation are monopolized and erased within systems of white supremacy, while celebrating Black resilience, prowess, and beauty.

Aida Sherif is a DJ and founding member of grassroots music organization Frontyard FM, which hosts public concerts and dance parties, free political education events, and mutual-aid fundraisers to cultivate collective joy through music and foster community care and support local aid.

Valkyrie Yao is a multidisciplinary artist, researcher, and producer, founder of ELSHERE and founding editor of STRATUM, working across live performance, installation, and moving image to develop rigorous environments where systems, language, and embodiment become material.

Follow Mars Scott, Aida Sherif, and Valkyrie Yao’s journey to learn more about how art can be a vector for change and meaning making.
