Embracing a unique hobby is like finding hidden treasure in the ordinary. Whether you're collecting quirky doorknobs or, in my case, mid-century posters from the Polish School of Posters, it's a guarantee that your dinner party chats will never be dull.

It all began in Los Angeles. Late one night, as I was seeking design inspiration for a campaign, I stumbled upon Jan Lenica's 'Wozzeck' poster and fell head over heels.

Discovering the story behind this iconic artwork and how artists like Lenica, Swierzy, Gorka, Zelek, and many others used their skills to convey subliminal messages in their bold artwork, secretly commenting on the Soviet communist regime, reignited my passion for my work.

Fast forward to Leuven, a small town near Brussels. A year after my first encounter with the 'Wozzeck' poster, I stumbled upon it again, this time decorating the window of a tiny antique store. I had to go in, and what I found inside still brings a smile to my face: a forgotten collection of almost 1,000 perfectly preserved Polish posters. Three hours later, I was in my hotel room with over a dozen posters, forever regretting not buying more.

Since then, I've been slowly building a small a collection, and now, the American Institute of Polish Culture, @fiuinstagram and @aigamiami, will showcase them at the SIPA Gallery on the FIU Campus.

Don't miss the opening event on Wednesday, November 15th, at 6:30 p.m. If you're a sucker for graphic design like me, this is a must-see. From circus to film posters, the Polish School of Posters is a testament to the unbreakable spirit of human ingenuity.

I’ll see you there!
