I love my work, but this year I’ve been trying to make sure it isn’t the only thing I notice about my life. Especially because when you live with diabetes *and* work in diabetes...it can be a lot.

My hobbies matter, my health matters, and so do the little things that make me smile. And the more you pay attention to those little things... The more you realize they're everywhere!

So I’m starting a little Sunday series: Things I Love This Week That Have Nothing to Do with Work. Maybe it’ll help with the Sunday scaries. Maybe it’ll help me pay more attention as the week goes along. And maybe having to report back to you will help me keep at it. Please hold me to this!

Am I a baker yet? These came out of a slime kit, so probably not. But it felt so good to do something with my hands and not stare at a screen for a while. I need more of this.

Found @rachelgreening.rd new Indigenous cookbook on the shelf! Seeing her and her husband’s work out in the world is incredible. I picked up a few copies, obviously. Go get yourself a copy: it's a work of art, resistance, culture, and deliciousness.

Bailey’s and Earl Grey tea on VIA Rail. An excellent little train treat. I think I only have Bailey's on trains... 😂

A watch party to beat all watch parties: Team Red won, and we got a MasterChef Canada reunion too. Season 8 meets Season 9 meets cast and crew. A delightful community of super diverse folks, all trauma bonded by cooking under duress on television 😂 ♥️

@pocketplanetcanada Halloween special in Halifax had a whole beaver protest outside the BeaverTails stand. I was very invested in their cause. Save the tails! Give a dam! Nobody tell the beavers that I actually love a Killaloe sunrise from @beavertails

The Haunted Mansion made an appearance in Hamilton at Pocket Canada’s Halloween displays. As a Disney adult, this was a very welcome surprise. As a certified non horror film watcher, Haunted Mansion is as scary as I'll go 👻🎃 And shout-out to the carriage being pulled by the ghost horses!
