“All children, except one, grow up.” — Peter Pan

When he was little, the night before Marshall's birthday he always wished not to grow a year older. So much so that I started calling him “Peter Pan.”

Guess that wish wasn't granted because today he turns 18!

And I am so thankful to be his mama! He’s funny and witty and has a smile that can light up a room. One of the favorite parts of my day is sitting down and hearing about his day! He’s endlessly curious, and there always seems to be a new hobby or interest keeping him busy. He has a quiet strength about him. But more than anything, I think what defines him is his ability to adapt.

He just figures things out. He adjusts. He keeps going.

Through it all, he loves life. He loves people. He has this way of finding the good and making the most of whatever is thrown at him.

In Peter Pan, Mrs. Darling says, “The window must always be left open for them, always, always.”

Marshall, you may have wished you could stay little, but one day you’ll look back and realize that growing up didn’t mean losing your way home.

So go. Have your adventures. Try new things. Make mistakes. Grow into whoever you’re meant to be.

And know the window will always, always be open.❤❤

Happy 18th birthday kiddo! We love you so much!
