Without all the great photographers and illustrators, we would not have been able to show these elections through our own eyes.

For much of election night yesterday, our reporting at DIE ZEIT @zeit was conveyed solely through images created by our photographers and illustrators. This marks a new step in authorship for our publication and makes me extremely proud. I think it is important to honor the work of each one of you, as you help give our reporting a unique voice and, hopefully, build trust.

📸 @martharosch 📸

Dear Instagram Friends,

Since last August, I’ve been pursuing a photographic education at @icp alongside some very talented folks, and tomorrow
our grad show — Evidence of Existence — opens at the ICP museum on view till the 25th.

A Sugimoto ultra, through and through, I brought a Mamiya and a tripod to my birthday dinner last year and attempted some long exposures. These didn’t work completely but there was something there in the way time compressed and people were imbued spectral. Since then I’ve been photographing other gatherings in a similar vein, and this has culminated in the series, Dinner Exposures.

My favorite image from this body of work — Karczma (March 19th, 2026, 8:06 to 9:13 PM) — will be on view as part of the show. Much thanks to all my long exposure participants without whom this project would not exist.
