Marti Flicker (@marti_flicker) is a street artist based in Philadelphia, USA. Marti's poetic relationship with impermanence has made her one of the muses of The Echo of Time.

She combines collage and text to create self-portraits in the form of wheatpastes around the city. You can think of her series of work as a living diary. Some entries are deeply personal. Others are seemingly meaningless, or meandering, like a train of thought.

The temporary nature of the work is as fleeting as the feelings behind it. To her, street art will always be a practice in letting go, and a reminder that nothing in this world is too precious to change.

Inspired by her work, I imagined us travelling together across time. When it was finally time to return, we discovered that the only way back was through a tin—a tiny time capsule. We tried to step inside, but we no longer fit.

Somewhere along the journey, time, memory, and everything we had gathered had quietly transformed us.

If we no longer fit inside the capsule, did time change us—or did it simply reveal who we had always been?
