Millinery Retreat October - For her third hat Victoria wanted to use this lovely vintage block which belongs to a student of mine Martine Pech who has a beautiful hat shop in Uzes Provence.

This will be her first time blocking a hat and she’s chosen to use a black unshaven velour felt capeline which has a lovely soft and fluffy finish. Victoria is making several embellishments in velour felt that can be used to decorate a hat pin.

She’s very happy to be taking home three hats that she can wear and add to her personal hat collection

Hace un año estaba llegando a Berlín para adentrarme en el mundo de la sombrerería, lo que yo no me esperaba era conocer a @martine.pech una maestra sombrera que me abrió las puertas de su casa en Avignon, Francia, para seguir explorando este mundo artesanal que hoy día se está perdiendo y que maestras como ella están dejando su sabiduría a otras personas para que este oficio no se olvide y se mantenga vivo.

A picture of my student’s hat shop “Petit Beguin”in the beautiful town of Uzes Provence. The first time I visited the shop 7 years ago I was overwhelmed by the creativity and enthusiasm of the owner Martine Pech. The shop is as beautiful inside as it is outside and Martine’s talent is evident everywhere you look. Her beautiful hats are complemented by her sister’s nuno felted garments and other beautiful objects and jewelry that she has sourced from local artisans. It’s a treat for the eyes and the soul, I look forward to visiting my special friend again soon
