Last year I shot the first narrative film I’ve made in ten years. It is a short that I put together quickly and shot on the tails of a commercial shoot outside Austin, TX. Fast forward to now and just as the film was about to have its festival premiere Covid happened. This has been sitting on my hard drive for a long time now as I waited for the perfect festival or partner to release it with.
I cried when we wrapped because I had been waiting so long to give myself permission to make a film that was my own. I love commercials and I’ll never stop looking for ways to bring humanity to that work but I learned throughout this process that making art is a part of who I am and I am a happier person when I am doing that.
This is by no means a perfect film but I am incredibly proud to have worked with an amazing cast and crew and I am so grateful to have had so many friends support me and help me along the way.
This is all to say that this week I will be releasing Where the Stars Look Different and I can’t wait to share it with all of you. Stay tuned.
