I’ll always remember my days in Scotland as green and dark. It’s funny people—people who know how to have fun with themselves—made life feel a little more bearable.

This nomination was truly wonderful. I’ve been enjoying my work more than ever, while meeting incredible people, visiting artist-run spaces that may no longer operate as they once did, and chasing different institutional models. Perhaps nothing in this world needs to remain permanent—and maybe it’s even better to focus on “unsuccessful” models that don’t fit neatly into the capitalist flow.

The four plays I saw at the @edfringe and other festivals, moved me with the performers’ dedication, hard work, and the level of discipline and skill they brought to their craft.

Thank you, Norah Campbell, for your amazing play recommendations; thank you, @creativescots for your unbelievable hospitality and for bringing so much joy to the group; and thank you to my fellows, who continue to expand my perspective.

A huge thank you to @turkeybritishcouncil , @edartfest , and @creativescots for this nomination. I can’t wait to see how the seeds I planted between Scotland and here grow.

Saying goodbye to “Red Gold”🍅

Last year I spent a residency in Pittsburgh @mattressfactory with a loooooot of salt, and left a greenhouse made of it. Casting it was an experiment and very labour intensive work which felt right for a work about how food production is tied to labour, power and survival.

Throughout the year the tiles have been dissolving slowly and on their own.

“Red Gold” closes in three weeks, In you’re in Pittsburgh go check it out!✨

For creatives in Egypt, both amateur and professional, the practice of zine-making has gradually become more of a usual practice. The prestige of both the publishing and fine art industries stands on the foundation that not just anyone can be published.

There is a clear inaccessibility, a difficulty to penetrate, which has led countless publishers and galleries to function independently. Within the gaps of that network flourishes an even more independent model of publishing, two degrees removed from traditional publishing - one that lives in folds of paper, fun scribbles and cheap photocopying - through zines.

It was a joy to attend the Momentum 2026 Visual Arts event today in Edinburgh and to hear from delegates including Marwa Benhalin (Cairo Art Book Fair / Ta3amana Publishing / Switchboard Studio), Orlando Maaike Gouwenberg (Sonsbeek art projects), Ranjit Hoskote (Public Arts Trust of India (PATI), Eyimofe Ideh (+234Art Fair), Zehra Begum Kisla (Yapι Kredi Culture Arts and Publishing), Bojana Piškur (Museum of Modern Art, Ljubljana), Ieva Saudargaite (Takeover Beirut), Sara Szostak (Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle).

Thanks to @creativescots , @edartfest @britishcouncil @britishcouncilscotland for such a wonderful event!

I also had the pleasure of attending an evening talk led by Dr Cole Collins and Dr Patrick Carland-Echavarria, focused on artist Sadao Hasegawa and the EAF exhibition of his work titled Carnal Desires. The talk gave a fascinating insight into queer art, Japanese culture, eroticism, and the legacy of queer artists. Thank you EAF, @kim.mcaleese @eleanor____taylor + @dr_cole_collins !
