Happy 70th birthday, Dad. 🤍

How I wish we were celebrating with you today.

I wish I could hear your laugh, see your smile, and watch you blow out your candles one more time. I wish I could hug you, tell you how much I love you, and have just one more conversation.

There are days when I still can’t quite believe you’re gone. Life keeps moving forward, but there is a part of me that will always wish I could go back to when you were here.

I think one of the hardest things about losing someone you love so deeply is realizing that you have to keep living a life you thought they would always be part of. There are so many things I wish you could see, so many moments I wish I could share with you. I miss you in ways I never knew it was possible to miss someone.

But I also know how incredibly blessed I am that God chose you to be my dad.

You gave us a lifetime of love, laughter, wisdom, and memories. You taught us that people matter more than things, that everyone has a story worth hearing, and that the greatest measure of a life is how well we love the people God places in it.

And you loved so well, Dad.

I don’t pretend to understand why God called you home when He did. I only know that I trust Him, even when my heart aches. And I find so much peace in believing that you are experiencing a joy and a love more beautiful than anything this world could ever offer.

I hope heaven is everything you dreamed it would be. I hope you know how much we still talk about you, how often we laugh remembering you, and how deeply your absence is felt in all the places your love once filled.

Most of all, I hope you know that I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you proud.

Seventy years ago today, God gave me a father I would spend my whole life thanking Him for. And someday, by His grace, I’ll get to hug you again.

Until then, we will all keep loving you, missing you, and carrying you with us in everything we do.

Happy birthday, Dad. We love you forever. 🤍

Today a bunny ran into the studio from the street. Our doors were wide open for the fresh coastal breeze🐇 I’m choosing to take this as a message about abundance, new beginnings, intuition, and hope. Or perhaps he just had somewhere to be😂

@balancebymalin teaching yoga is always full of surprises, right?! lol

Either way: may great nature continue to surprise us, may hope continue to find us, and may yoga continue to teach us how to stay open & receptive🫧🫧🫧

Today it’s been 2 months without you, Dad.

And yet…2 months of seeing God more clearly than ever.

Right after you passed, our priest shared a story I haven’t been able to shake: A man walks through dark woods with a lantern, his children following closely behind. They don’t know where they’re going—only that they trust him. Step by step, they keep moving forward in the dark.

And then, slowly, the sun begins to rise - and they realize they’ve been walking east the entire time.

The light grows so bright that they can no longer see the man…or even the lantern. Not because he’s gone - but because the light has become greater than what once guided them.

That’s what you did for us, Dad.

You led us faithfully, quietly, consistently - always pointing us to Christ. And now, even in your absence, we see Him more clearly because of the way you lived.

We will keep walking.
We will keep trusting.
We know we’re still being led…
just by a greater Light now.

The ache is real, but so is God’s grace.

As Christians, we’re called to give glory to God in all things - to trust in His will, not only when it’s easy or understood, but especially when it’s painful and hidden.

This is hard. But we believe He is good. We believe He is present. And we believe He is working, even here.

In our grief, God has met us in ways I can’t fully put into words. In peace that doesn’t make sense. In strength we didn’t have on our own. In the quiet assurance that this isn’t the end.

You spent your life pointing us toward Him…
and even in your death, you still are.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7

We miss you every single day.
We love you more than we can put into words.
And we look to the day that we’ll meet again 🤍
