NEW EPISODE: 153 - Buddies Become Brothers: Build a Team for All Seasons of Life

Every team ends. The great ones change shape instead.

After three Captain's Workshops in four days, Tex stayed in Boston with his college co-captain. They had been apart for seven years, and it felt like no time had passed. That trip sparked this episode on the most overlooked stage of team development: Adjourning.

Sports don't teach lessons. Coaches do. So teach this one. Build the bond now, so it holds later.

What you'll learn:
- Why teams that skip hard conversations adjourn as strangers

- The difference between healthy and negative conflict

- How banter, candor, and conflict carry into adult life

- Compassion as the adult layer, plus six emotional needs teammates can meet

- Four moves to coach the stage nobody coaches

Proud of these Marymount [@marymountsaints] student-athletes and team leaders.

The Saints Strong Leadership Academy brought in Captains & Coaches for a Captain's Workshop, putting captains through the real thing: Forming, Storming, and Performing as a team in real time.

They walked out with tools to lead their squads through the hard stretches of this season, and the language to bring their teams back together when it counts.

They know who they are. They know where they're going. And they're equipped to take charge when their team needs it most.

Leaders lead.

"We All Go!" Ready, ready.
Big thanks to the Marymount Men's Lacrosse team for letting me close out Saturday morning practice and wake up Rowley Hall again.

Took advantage of the weather and handed off the We Ball tools. The aim for this group is to call each other out, bring some radical banter, and ride together for back-to-back conference championships.

Always good to be back where it started. Excited for the squad this year.

Hey, I’m Cole 👋

I am a mental performance coach working with athletes, teams, and coaches across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.

My goal is simple: help athletes and groups become the best possible versions of themselves, utilizing mental skills that allow them to cultivate confidence, respond to adversity, and find more enjoyment in their sport daily.

Alongside my work as a mental performance coach, I am currently pursuing my second Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount, and have worked with athletes for two years at the NCAA level. I also coach @marymountmlax where I serve as their graduate assistant.

I’m also proud to be part of @oneplaydevelopment where we’re working to help grow athletes and people on and off the field.

This page will serve as a place to share mental performance tips, tools, and perspective I believe is worth putting out.

If you’re an athlete, coach, parent, or team looking to sharpen your mental game and grow holistically, connect with me through DM. Thank you for reading!
