I am trying to find the words of what this song and release means to me. I haven’t released a song in almost a year and after Quit My Life, I almost thought I wouldn’t continue doing music. I felt so lost and so directionless and was dealing with burn out and the challenges of mental health. I reached out to @songwriterproducer in little hopes that a writing session might just turn this feeling around, and it did. It was reading week of my third year of university when I walked into the writing session wiping tears off my face. I had previously gotten out of an emotional conversation with my dad about how I felt so trapped without my car and the financial pressures of being an adult and insuring my car for the summer if I happened to come back home, which seemed unlikely at the time. I felt very frustrated, everything was up in the air, I didn’t know if I was going to be in toronto or vancouver, I didn’t know what music I wanted to make, I didn’t know if I liked music anymore, I didn’t know what my future had for me, I felt stuck and overwhelmed at the same time. And one of my favourite things, driving at night by myself, was no longer an option. So when I walked into the writers room, I don’t know how but @songwriterproducer @sarahstarkmusic and @bronwynthebullet took this feeling and helped me carve out a song that felt so real and so powerful. It was the medicine, the motivation, and the magic I needed at the time. A couple months later, I took this song to @chris.mifsud who has been on this journey with me for over two years now. he has seen all the the doubts, the fear, the perfectionism, and the freedom. I am so grateful to be able to trust his vision with my art and also that he trusts me to deliver. This song holds a special place in my heart. It is sonically crafted to feel like tension. And lyrically written to find freedom in. I needed to slow down, and finally feel the ground, and that’s what I did. Seven months later, I’m releasing this song, with intention and a purpose. I hope you like this song like I do 🚙🫂🩵 and stay with me because there’s a music video coming soon ;))
