I photographed Mathias and Edzard in my small apartment a few days ago. The color photograph was taken at the very end of our session. I think they were both tired. After photographing them for an hour, they relaxed, and I relaxed with them. Suddenly, they looked like two flowers. For the photograph with their heads touching, I was inspired by the double herm of Socrates and Seneca, a Roman copy dating from the first half of the 3rd century AD. I saw it at the Museum of Ancient Art in Berlin two years ago, and I’ve been trying to recreate it ever since.

A living picture

Taormina is the place where Sicily reveals all its souls: devotion and myth, art and landscape, the magnificence of the Baroque and the authenticity of popular traditions. These influences inspire the #DGAltaSartoria Collection and take shape through the language of artisanal excellence.
