With full hearts, we take our final bow for ANTIGONE. ♥️

Thank you for selling out every night, spreading the word, and asking—and continuing to ask—for more performances. Your enthusiasm made this closing especially difficult.

To our longtime friends who followed us from Downtown L.A. to the Getty Villa, and to the new friends who discovered Latino Theater Company through ANTIGONE: thank you. We look forward to welcoming you to our home at The LATC.

Our deepest gratitude to our extraordinary cast, creative team, crew, and the entire Getty and Getty Villa staff.

“Carry these words deep in your heart.”

We will.

Malibu, CA: The homie Gzr said he had a ticket for opening night of Antigone so I jammed outta Fresno straight to the Getty Villa—“If you’re in the ocean, you’ve gone too far, carnal”—I was absolutely stunned by this work. I am grateful I got to meet Evelina Fernández who adapted Sophocles and set this greek tragedy in pre-conquest Tenochtitlan. I can’t overstate how moving it was to hear native language and native drum echo off all that stone, roll off into the ocean and escape into the sky above. It kept running through my mind with each scene change: what a gift. What a gift! I am glad I got to thank Evelina cuz… what a gift she and the @latinotheaterco gave to us and to the culture. What a full throated expression of our collective talent, our culture, our history. This needs to be seen in person by everyone. C/s….Oh, I’m Glad me and Gz were annoying and snagged a pic with el mero mero Edward James Olmos! Lol. Had to! Shoutout to Ric Salinas from Culture Clash who steals more than one scene and the homie @matiasinmotion and the powerful chorus that shook the stadium with their voices. Bravo! 👏🏽 👏🏽
