PEOPLE I ADMIRE IN THE BIZ: Joseph Tenni, International Talent Manager of Chadwick Models of Australia

Having spent over 25 years at a single agency is remarkably rare in an industry known for frequent moves + shifting loyalties. Top that off with a career that spans the Australian fashion market from being a minor player + growing into a major hitter where models are not just developed but there is sustainable work bringing in models from around the globe. Sprinkle that with helping manage Chadwicks three offices in Australia + one would think that Joseph could sit back on his laurels. But no, Joseph was made for this, it is his life + he has no intention of slowing down.

While other boys collected sports cards + video games, Joseph’s journey began in Melbourne, marked by a hobby that set him apart from his peers, “I was obsessed with magazines—The Face, i-D—I had images of Kate Moss, Amber Valletta, Shalom Harlow, Stella Tennant pinned all over my wall. I admired photographer Nick Knight. This wasn’t normal for a kid in Melbourne. My grandmother was a dressmaker + factory owner back in the 1940s + 50s. I think that connection to fashion was always in my blood, even if I didn’t realize it at the time.” Joseph developed a passion for foreign languages which was also uncommon among English speaking peers. Combine this with his grandmother’s legacy + his own aesthetic sensibilities + the foundation for Joseph’s future was laid.

After high school, Joseph wanted to be a fashion stylist. The feedback he received was consistent + discouraging – everyone said he had to start as an assistant. He declined this advice resistant to the ideas of spending years fetching coffee + steaming garments before being able to express his own creativity. CONTINUED IN 2 PINNED COMMENTS

Lots of work behind the scenes goes into bringing these campaigns to life, from the initial vision, logistical planning, execution & editing - have loved every minute of it! Cheers
