Waterloo Region is shining bright @torino2025_fisugames! Not only is @leahherrfort of @wloowhky lighting the lamp with an incredible 5 goals across Canada’s dominant wins over the UK and Chinese Taipei, but two other local leaders are playing key roles in this golden journey.

Behind the bench is none other than Kelly Paton, the head coach of @laurierwhockey, bringing her experience and passion to lead Team Canada (@usportsinternational). And keeping the players game-ready is @matina.17, Equipment Manager for @wloowhky, whose hard work ensures everything runs smoothly off the ice.

Today, Canada faces Slovakia in a pivotal matchup. Let’s cheer on Leah, Kelly, Matina, and the entire squad as they continue their inspiring quest for gold!

Matina Landstad, from Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦 has channeled her passion for sports and hockey into a successful career as a professional Equipment Manager. She currently serves as the Head Equipment Manager for the University of Waterloo Warriors Women’s Hockey Team. Prior to this role, Matina was the Head Equipment Manager for the Toronto franchise in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) during its inaugural season.

Her expertise in equipment management has led to prestigious opportunities, including being selected as an Equipment Manager for the 2024 NHL All-Stars Weekend. Matina has also worked with Hockey Canada’s Paralympic Team at the IPH Cup in the Czech Republic and is set to be the Head Equipment Manager for Team Canada at the FISU World University Games in Torino, Italy.

Matina’s journey into this field began unexpectedly. Driven by a love for working with sports teams, she applied for an equipment manager position with her university’s football team. After securing the role, she transitioned to hockey, spending the next two years mastering the trade. When the PWHL was established, she was invited to join Toronto’s team, which opened up new and exciting opportunities in her career.

We are all excited to see where Matina takes her career.
