🌈 Ojai Pride Flag Raising

“This Pride flag raising is not a performative measure, it is a statement by the city that says, no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, what color you are, how you identify, or who you love: you belong here.”
– Mayor Pro Tem Rachel Lang

On a bright June day in Ojai, a community gathered not just to witness a flag go up, but to affirm its values: Inclusion. Courage. Love.

Thank you, Rachel, for your leadership and your unapologetic voice for those on the margins. From Stonewall to Ojai, Pride remains a call to action and a celebration of belonging. It was a gift to join you and your community in our sister city for the raising of the flag and lifting up our shared vision of safety, dignity, and joy for all.

The amount of gratitude I have for this dear soul is endlessly evasive of expression. Mark Tovar has been a shining soul that has offered so much support to Maya Lumen. We met a few years ago at an open mic where I was playing solo and he has been my top hype man ever since always reminding me that I have something to believe in and that this music deserves to live in the world. As a musician, as an artist, that is the greatest gift as the task can feel so daunting and the world can feel so big. He has helped connect me to the community, facilitated bookings, tirelessly sending names and numbers my way, supported shows, hooked the band up with tickets to other shows, kept the smile strong, taken photos, made me art, and connected me to another very special soul that is filling my heart.
👾💕
You’ve taken care of me in music, heart, and soul. You’re a true guardian angel Mark! Thank you 🙏🏽💫💥

Here we go again! The boys are saddling up for another awesome gig. This time at Smitty West’s Euturpe Farm Summer Concert Series. This series has been going on for many years, features incredible artists and I’m really proud that Damaged Goods have proven worthy! Of course, we do have a minor ‘in’ 🤣🤣🤣.

This will one for the ages as not only will we be performing on an outdoor stage but pretty much my entire family will be there to watch the fun.

This IS a ticketed event and tickets can be purchased at the link below. At only $15 it’s well worth it and you will be supporting live local music in our community AND a unique, beautiful local venue.

If you’ve seen Damaged Goods before, you know what a ton of fun it is. If you haven’t, come and find out.

With a band made up of local icons Ruben Duarte Jr. Jerry Breiner, Frank Barajas, Smitty West, and yours truly, it can only be good!

Go get your tickets right now before you forget and put the date in your calendar., too! Oh! And Ruben Duarte Jr.ll be banging out his incredible food to boot…obviously there’ll be another Duarte serving it as he’ll be a bit on the busy side! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/damaged-goods-at-euterpe-farms-tickets-948248345327?aff=oddtdtcreator

#flashbackfriday to a 2018 dance party at Libbey Park in celebration of International Dance Day. It was such a blast! We just put out speakers, started playing music, and people just started joining us in dance. It was AWESOME. We need to do this again 🤔

This year we are celebrating International Dance Day with our inaugural Ojai World Dance Festival on April 20th from 7-9pm at the Libbey Bowl! After looking at this video maybe we should play a dance song at the end of the show and get everyone up to dance. Wouldn’t that be 🔥. I think we’re on to something here 🤩 Any thoughts on which song we should play?!!!!!
