Nooo I don’t like uniforms or armies or borders or the idea of nations (nor would I ever trust a mustage, I’m from the 80ies, baby 😆).

This was 10 years ago, when MATS-UP payed tribute to a 100 years of the antiwar-art mouvement DADAism with a short movie. It was also our period of „The Nature of the Blues“, playing music based on the natural scale

And yes, uniform and drums are original from the WWI period.

Hey fam!
This year again, I had the absolute joy and privilege of playing music with friends for a living. I wish everyone on this planet were given the same level of freedom, but it seems like it’s not the vibe though… let’s work on that.

With those friends, we released four albums this year, all very different. Check them out if you haven’t yet! All links in my bio.

1. Mega Mass – Realism
The final album of @megamassmusic , with whom I had a huge amount of fun and learned a lot over five years. With @fabian_willmann and @quentin_cholet , we were crazy enough to invite @ulikempendorff and @lacdesable to join us on half of the tunes to achieve a massive three-piece sax section… Sounds amazing — I’m so happy with that album.
With @houtrecords

2. In Motion – Allegories
A double-guitar album that aims to challenge the colonial narrative by exploring the meeting point between South African and Western European musical traditions. We found very special spaces and energies, it's a whole journey. With @vumalevin, @martin._.prrt, @marcozenini, @matsspillmann, @lenni_torgue, @makhenegontse

3. Duboule | Tavelli | Oester – Isobar
Guitar trio, uhh mama! @noetavelli and I worked a lot on this music, and with the precious help of Swiss legends @baenzoester and Matthieu Michel, we managed to get a very interesting and genuine result. With @unitrecordsofficial .

4. Mr Wizzel – Easy Communism
An electronic solo project that I’ve been working on for over 15 years. My man @shemsbendali plays some trumpet on Not That Much. Video by @drykatspictures

Thanks to @ruch.martin for mixing and mastering 85% of these albums!
See you soon — let’s all take care!

pov: live footage of me standing up to these tricky but very beautiful kenny wheeler changes

but in all seriousness: I‘ve always felt quite insecure about my soloing and I dreaded being put on the spot.
after three wonderful shows, playing the sweet time suite by kenny wheeler with @triggerbigband
I feel like, I managed to break my walls down a bit, and get comfortable with being uncomfortable…
sooooo it’s definitely been a learning curve but in these videos in particular i remember actually enjoying myself hahahah
I also had the honour to stand on stage with our soloists @matsspillmann and @kkberardi
it was lovely to get to know you and to get inspired by your words and mesmerising music
I feel really grateful, thank you
