Down a run in the fifth, CBA Marucci came back to beat a very good opponent today in Jupiter.

Afterward, Coach Matt Jervis told me what the coaching staff tells their players in competitive environments like this one. He and the other coaches in the CBA Marucci dugout preach togetherness and toughness, preparing for what’s on the horizon, and focusing on the positives and the little things, like drawing a 3-2 walk late in the game.

Sat next to two Padres scouts on the flight to Florida last night. They’re two of roughly 700 MLB scouts and college coaches here in Jupiter for the Perfect Game WWBA World Championship.🔥

I’ve been to a lot of PG events. This one is next level. There are so many golf carts here for the scouts to move between fields it would be impossible to count them all. They’re here watching 120 of the top teams from across the country, including back-to-back champs, CBA Marucci.

There is a lot to see, on and off the fields. 👀
More soon.

From the very first time I watched Thomas step onto a pitcher’s mound, I have had the incredible privilege of watching his dream, and his love for this game of baseball unfold right before my eyes.

Over the years, he has made countless sacrifices, stayed focused through the highs and lows, and never lost his passion for the game. Every obstacle he faced, he met with dedication, determination, and a willingness to never stop working. Watching him grow not only as a baseball player, but as a young man has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

So today, with tears in my eyes and a heart absolutely bursting with pride, I celebrate this incredible accomplishment with my boy.

Thomas, I hope you always know just how proud I am of you. You have worked so hard for this moment, and you deserve every bit of it. Watching you continue to chase a dream you have loved for so long is something I will never take for granted.

To everyone who has prayed for Thomas, encouraged him, supported him, and cheered him on through the years, thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

I am forever grateful to every member of the CBA coaching staff for all you have given Thomas and the special role each of you have had in his journey.

And to the coaching staff at Winthrop University, thank you for believing in and giving my boy the opportunity to continue chasing his dreams at the Division I level. We are already so grateful for your coaches and the entire program! Go Eagles! #weareCBA #TheStandard #RocktheHill #WinthropBaseball

He’s back.

Alex was cleared this week to resume throwing and hitting after 45 days on the IR.

He still has work to do — easing back into throwing over the next four weeks. But he will get that done because it’s what he wants for himself.

His mom and I always knew he was a tough kid, and he sure proved that this summer after being diagnosed with Little League Shoulder.

He didn’t pout. He didn’t complain. He didn’t quit. He just went to work.

His teammates call him Superman.

Coach Jervis gave Lukas Waite that nickname because Lukas can kind of do everything, and he takes the ribbing well.

This weekend, Lukas takes the field at the Perfect Game All-American Classic in Philadelphia. Sixty of the best high school players in the country. Last year, 16 of those 60 became first-round MLB draft picks. 👀

Two of the 60 are from San Diego. Lukas is one of them. Jose Partida (@micho.partida) is the other. Both pitchers. Lukas is a righty. Jose is a southpaw.

I sat down with Coach Jervis. What he had to say about Lukas — the arm, the maturity, the switch that flips — you’ll want to hear it.

“Sky’s the limit for Lukas.”🔥
