POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

TBT to the days when I used to host Thanksgiving in San Francisco — one of my all-time favorite traditions. Every year I’d squeeze 15–18 people into my place, fully transform my bedroom into a long dining room, and spend the entire day cooking (including a turkey I was weirdly proud of).
It was chaotic, cozy, and so full of heart. Friends, family, laughter, candles, way too much food, and a night where everyone slowed down just long enough to feel grateful.
These were some of the best memories — bringing people together, creating a space to share a meal, and filling the room with warmth and love. 🖤🍁🍷🦃✨

LETS TALK GETTING READY.

Gone are the days of glamorizing dresses hanging from a tree, a window sill, etc. Maybe if you’re in the most beautiful French chateau or Italian villa and with the most perfect interior or wardrobe where it makes sense, but can we please collectively retire this nonsensical need for an image. I said what I said. The dress hanging shot is never chosen for an album or one that hangs on your wall. You are wearing the dress/suit all day, after all.

WHY I LOVE GETTING READY.

My energy appreciates a bit of an easing into the day. I’d rather arrive early, say hi while you’re enjoying coffee or a mimosa, help ground the tone for the day, and capture the in-between moments that end up meaning the most to you. It’s always the 20 minutes or so before you head to your first look, or walk down the aisle that gets me and is the most fun. There’s a mad dash of adrenaline that starts to peak, your mom might help you with your veil, and everyone is dressed and looking their best, the excitement, the anticipation, whatever it may be, that’s the magic. I deeply feel those cinematic snapshots that flash right before my eyes and more often than not, those end up being your favorites too.

All that said, don’t discount getting ready because you think the “expected” images are what it’s about. It’s what you least expect that will blow your mind.

Here’s a collection of TEN that I love.

1. Aman. Lanai, Hawaii, 2021.
2. Hannah & Emily. Atlanta, 2014.
2. Carrying the veil. Italy, 2021.
4. “Mama T” getting ready. Canouan, 2023.
5. Max & Eric jumping on the bed. New York, 2022.
6. Catherine & Evan, together. Canouan, 2023.
7. Karla. Sonoma, 2017.
8. Flower girl portraits amidst chaos. Hawaii, 2018.
9. Arielle and her bridesmaids. Los Angeles, 2023.
10. Matt and his groomsmen. San Francisco, 2017.

A classic.

I photographed Matt & Dennis’ wedding back in 2017. Pictured here Matt (far left) and his best men. Cigarettes are becoming a thing of the past and the more I stare at this image, the more I think to myself “what a time that was”—and it was only a few years ago. I always want my work to feel fresh and new, but the undertone will always remain classic.

I just updated my website again. I know, I know, detail-oriented artist over here who always strives for perfection, but it’s balanced much better—TAKE A PEEK! Matt (my groom) recently commented when learning this photo from his wedding day lives on the homepage, he said:

"What I think really matters is how you feel years after the images are taken… do they still create that spark for me? Yes, it’s been six years. That’s timeless for me.” I couldn’t agree more.

This photo will always remain a classic “Christina McNeill” kind of photograph. Classic and edgy AF, just the way I like it.
