Matt Corby’s Live on the Resolution Tour EP remains a breathtaking time capsule of an artist coming into the absolute fullness of his powers. Captured during his monumental 2013 Australian run, this five-track release doesn’t just document a concert series; it bottle-necks the raw, kinetic energy of an era where Corby transcended from acoustic troubadour to a bona fide soul-blues powerhouse.
The EP kicks off with an agonizingly beautiful rendition of “Runaway”, where Corby’s falsetto glides effortlessly over moody, simmering textures. When the band locks into the “Lay You Down / Song For” medley, the sonic shift is palpable—heavy, grounded, and deeply spiritual. But the crown jewel is undoubtedly the title track, “Resolution”. Stripped of its studio polish, it transforms into an anthemic, communal roar, driven by thunderous percussion and a vocal performance so fiercely passionate it raises goosebumps. A gritty, howling cover of David Crosby’s “Almost Cut My Hair” further cements his rock credentials before the slow-burn groove of “Trick of the Light” brings the journey to a hypnotic close.
Listening to this masterpiece today, the anticipation is overwhelming: I am finally seeing Matt Corby live next Saturday night. If his upcoming performance captures even half of the raw magic, vocal gravity, and sublime instrumentation found on this EP, it will easily be the gig of the year. Thirteen years later, these recordings still prove that Corby on stage is less of a standard concert and more of a spiritual experience.

Reaching out for alcohol and other drug support can feel like a big step, especially when you don’t know who will be on the other side of the conversation.

So over the next few weeks, we’re introducing some of the people behind The Bridge and Pillars of Support in Singleton.

First up, meet Josiah.

He shares a little about why he works in alcohol and other drug support, what matters to him, and who he is when he’s not at work. Shout out to the legendary @mattcorby 😉 👏 who gets an honourable mention.

The Bridge provides free alcohol and other drug support, while Pillars of Support provides free counselling for people affected by someone else’s alcohol or other drug use. No referral is needed.

Both services are available through our Singleton hub at 2/16 Cambridge Street, Singleton, with phone and telehealth options also available.

Learn more via the link in our bio.

The Bridge and Pillars of Support are funded by NSW Ministry of Health.

I've always wanted to try out concert photography so this was the perfect opportunity, and I was so blown away by both these artists amazing voices and music!
