I am so excited to share my new show 'Something Blue' where my beautiful band 'Alanna and the Blue Dreamers' reimagines Joni Mitchell 's 'Blue' album. Like Joni, I was immersed in both folk and jazz from childhood and went on to record five original folk albums with my twin sister, as well as a classic jazz album with my jazz band Alanna and Old Hat. 'Alanna and the Blue Dreamers' draws my folk heritage and jazz worlds together. I will also share some of my original songs inspired by Joni’s poetic vision and artistry. My band features the stardust piano of Steve Grant, the lush guitar tones of Jen Hawley, the expressive violin of Hope Violinski and Jo To our tree, our anchor. Folk lovers, jazz lovers, lovers and especially the heart broken we'd love to see you at a show soon! 💙

Grazie mille Mattea Davies foe the poster design and Charles Wade for the image.

Meet our brilliant designer Mattea Davies!

Mattea has had her work cut out for her on this show… taking over multiple spaces at the Motley Bauhaus, costumes of a troupe of actors off the street as well as intergalactic warriors and Gnomes. She also has to create the moon onstage… no trouble.

Mattea is doing an exceptional job of taking us into the multiverse!

⏰ Only 11 days until preview!

Words cannot express how honoured I am to be featured on the cover of @atomicbeautiesmagazine for my Help Wanted #gilelvgren
A lot of work went into nailing the details of this shoot to the best of my abilities.
Firstly thank you @elite_studio_photo for always delivering such high quality images and being so patient with my silly ideas. Thank you for travelling down to my place for this shoot.
Thanks @drinkcoffeeridebikes for the very long term loan of this gorgeous ladder and shelf which I believe was gifted to you by @matteajdavies 🥰
The bucket was borrowed from @dreyermotorsport ‘s auntie and uncle all the way from country Victoria.

🥳👏Who hoo. Well that’s a wrap for the inaugural Merri Arts - Art Camp (Spring holiday program)! 4 days of joy, embodied play, creativity and sensory immersion!

🌈And yet every day was completely different, the emergent interests, the weather, the kids! It really was delightfully wondrous watching the kids explore, discover and experiment. Wow.🤩

🌳For me ( Rebecca Bey) growing up in the 80’s meant this kind of creative nature play was (with our mum’s insistence) everyday in the holidays and after school. Looking back this was such a gift of nourishment in nature, fostering creativity and independence as well as collaboration.

🍃Rewilding art making is another way of describing what we are trying to do at Merri Arts. Giving our young people (and adults too)! a chance to feel that release of creative expression as well as visioning new possibilities.

🌻Nature based expressive arts feels so vital right now. A way of connecting to our own oneness with nature. To our own inherent creativity and adaptation, even resilience.

💚 The reflections will keep rising to the surface. Lots of love to all our keen makers and colleagues Mattea and Sol and of course all the parents that trusted us in the process 🙏🥰
