⚡️NOW STREAMING⚡️ @parmi_jonn from Long Island hardcore band @stiff_necked_li joins Heavy Mental Breakdown to break down “What’s the Dealio, Emilio?”, a raw and deeply personal track born from a period when his mental health was at its lowest.

We discuss the concept of heartbroken focus, channeling pain, anger, and negativity into creativity, and how music can become an outlet for emotions that are difficult to put into words.

Because sometimes the darkest moments can become the source of something that helps us keep going.

⚡️NOW STREAMING⚡️ @_nosurrender.band joins Heavy Mental Breakdown to talk about becoming one of Southern California’s youngest pop punk bands to go viral, all while just having fun and playing the music they love.

These middle schoolers have built their sound around the bands that came before them, including @mxpxpx, @sum41, @newfoundglory, @storyoftheyear, @theofficialmest and more. Their cover performances took off online and even brought them to the legendary @thewhiskyagogo in Los Angeles.

But the views and followers were never the prize. When @mikeherreratd of MxPx followed and liked their post, that meant more than going viral ever could.
Because when your heroes recognize you, sometimes that’s the biggest win of all.

For @_nosurrender.band going viral was cool.

But getting recognized by your hero? That meant everything. That what rockstars like @mikeherreratd of @mxpxpx have meant for them. For us all.

At a young age, NO SURRENDER gets it. 🤘🏽

⚡️NOW STREAMING⚡️ @geoffplourd is a monitor engineer for @311 and @coreytaylor and it’s clear from the moment you talk to him that he genuinely loves what he does.

In this episode, Geoff opens up about his own mental health journey, life on the road, and what it takes to take care of yourself through the chaos of touring. We talk about diet, exercise, recovery after tour, and finding balance while living a life that revolves around music.

But this conversation was also personal for me. I got the opportunity to share my own story with Geoff about why, if it weren’t for Corey Taylor, Heavy Mental Breakdown wouldn’t exist.

And of course, we had to talk about our shared love for pop punk, including Blink 182 and New Found Glory.

A conversation about mental health, music, touring, recovery, and the people who can unexpectedly change the direction of your life.

⚡️NOW STREAMING⚡️ @thedrummerbrooks of @fozzyrock joins Heavy Mental Breakdown to talk about gratitude, sacrifice, and the unexpected journey that brought him back to music.

He shares how Fozzy changed his life and gave him opportunities he never expected, including playing Wembley, while also opening up about the weight of being away from home. After a relationship ended, COVID hit, and his father was diagnosed with cancer, Grant found himself questioning whether the road was still where he belonged. Then Fozzy called.

And through it all, his love for drums kept calling him back. Keep fighting.
