Keeping history alive runs in the family. ⚒️ With over 30 years of experience, master stonemason Matthew Gee (@matthew.gee_) has dedicated his life to traditional historic conservation. From restoring churches in Tuscany to working on historic landmarks across the UK, his passion inspired his son Charlie (@charlie.gee__) and daughter Natalie (@natalie.gee_) to carry the torch. Using traditional mallets and chisels rather than power tools, this family is proving that medieval artistry isn’t lost it’s thriving. Each stone they carve carries their personal mason’s mark, ensuring their work will stand on iconic monuments for centuries to come. 💬 Would you ever pursue an ancient craft like traditional stonemasonry? Let us know below!

For over 30 years, he’s been shaping stone by hand, turning raw blocks into lasting pieces through patience, precision and experience. Every mark he makes reflects decades of practice and a deep understanding of his craft. Thirty years is a lifetime dedicated to one material. If you could ask Matthew one question about stonemasonry, what would it be? artisan: Matthew follow: @matthew_stoneworks -————————————————————— Visual craft stories. Made by human. There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching stone being shaped by hand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Every cut removes a little more material, but reveals a little more of the final piece. It’s slow, precise and impossible to rush. Sometimes that’s exactly the reminder we need. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you enjoy watching craftsmanship like this with the sound on, or do you usually scroll in silence? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ artisan: Matthew follow: @matthew_stoneworks ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -————————————————————— ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Visual craft stories.
