These two plyometric drills are a great way to develop explosive power while teaching athletes how to absorb, control, and redirect force.

The four-way broad jump challenges athletes to produce force in one direction, land under control, immediately rotate 90 degrees, and explode again. The constant changes in direction increase the demand for deceleration, coordination, and the ability to quickly reorganize the body before the next jump.

The 180° broad jump takes it a step further. After jumping forward, the athlete immediately performs a 180° jump back, aiming to land on the exact spot they started. This challenges spatial awareness, reactive strength, and the ability to produce force while maintaining balance and body control through rotation.

This partner stability drill is a great way to challenge core control, shoulder stability, and reactive strength.

Holding the Tidal Tank Sphere straight out in front creates a long lever that immediately increases the demand on the shoulders and trunk. As your partner tries to knock the ball out of your hands from different directions, your body has to rapidly react and create stiffness without overreacting or losing position.

The unpredictable perturbations force the core to brace reflexively while the shoulders and upper body absorb and redirect force.

This high plank air hockey variation is a great way to challenge shoulder stability, core control, and coordination through reactive movement.

Using cones as goals and a furniture mover as the puck, athletes stay in a high plank while reaching, defending, and attacking. Every push of the puck shifts the body’s center of mass, forcing the shoulders, trunk, and hips to continuously adjust while maintaining a strong, stable position.

The constant changes in direction increase the demand for anti-rotational strength, body awareness, and the ability to create force from a stable base while reacting to an unpredictable environment.

Great for developing shoulder stability, anterior core strength, coordination, reaction time, and full-body control.
