Funny how the best moments are rarely planned.

You don’t always know where a small act of generosity will lead.

A conversation.
A friendship.
A collaboration.
Or… an inflatable kangaroo on stage 🦘

Huge thanks to @alfredoenciso and to @matthew.tdc and @the.design.conference team for sharing epic experiences, the unexpected shout outs and creating an environment where awesome moments like this can happen.

This year’s The Design Conference was special for us with Kylie taking the stage for a keynote and hosting a workshop alongside an incredible lineup of local and international speakers. New connections, honest discussions, shared experiences and a community that genuinely wants to see each other succeed. A huge thank you to Matthew Haynes and The Design Conference for creating a space where those conversations can happen, and to every speaker, attendee and volunteer who made it memorable. Until next year ✌️@matthew.tdc @the.design.conference

I love sharing stories of our connection to 65,000 years of heritage. The answers to the future are blowing in the trees, flowing in our rivers, on our mountains and in our oceans, alive in the stories of ancestors and elders.

To share stories of design and heritage with the humans shaping this country is my greatest gift.

Epic week at the @bris_powerhouse hanging in the empty seats in the quiet few minutes before the room filled up with @piprennie. The @the.design.conference was wild but the story for me was sharing this with Pip & NIcola. On Day 3, the film crew needed a hand, and thanks to the epic @matthew.tdc placing nothing but complete trust in Pip, my baby girl ended up behind the cameras filming the live stream. Watching your kid step into something new and just back herself is my whole world. Add to that Nicola being recognised for the wildly good work she is doing with @designdeclaresaustralia, giving nature a seat at the table with her sold-out workshop. Three of the five of my little (tall) clan leaning into creative confidence. I will carry this one for a long time. Grateful to the humans who built this, ran it, and showed up. What a few days.

Once again, we made the annual pilgrimage to @the.design.conference, and once again came home with our cups full, our brains buzzing, and that familiar feeling of being inspired and challenged to keep lifting the bar.

Huge credit to @matthew.tdc, who has created something incredibly special. You can feel how much he genuinely cares about the design community. And equal credit to everyone behind the scenes who somehow manage to keep the whole thing running (and keep Matt in line). Thanks to @heidi_fitz for being a legend travel buddy!

Looking back over the week, I realised it wasn't just individual talks that stuck with me. There were a handful of themes that kept surfacing, no matter who was on stage.

⭐ Lead with purpose.
Find work that aligns with your values and creates genuine impact.

⭐ Stay endlessly curious.
Protect play. Keep learning. Keep asking questions. Never lose the joy that made you fall in love with creativity in the first place.

⭐ Choose connection over comfort.
The best ideas don't come from everyone thinking the same way. They come from collaboration, diversity and being willing to lean into a little discomfort.

⭐ Build systems, not just motivation.
Great work isn't built on inspiration alone. It's built on habits, accountability and showing up consistently. Don't just start strong. Finish strong.

⭐Remember we're all human.
Relationships matter. Community matters. Creativity is messy, and that's part of what makes it worthwhile.

I left feeling recharged, creatively restless in the best possible way, and excited to create the next thing.

Until next year. Chontelle ✌
