Today Matthew and I had the incredible honor of being personally invited to a private meeting with FAMU President Marva Johnson.

I walked into that meeting grateful for the opportunity, but I walked out truly inspired by the woman I had just met.

President Johnson is strong, brilliant, warm and incredibly passionate about the future of FAMU and, most importantly, its students. As only the second woman in the university’s history to serve as president, she represents the kind of leadership I have always admired , leadership rooted in vision, purpose and creating opportunities for the next generation.

As a woman, I was in awe of her. But as a mother sitting beside my son as he begins his college journey, the moment meant even more.

There is something incredibly reassuring about meeting the person leading the university your child has chosen and seeing firsthand how deeply she cares about the young people entrusted to her.

Matthew, I hope these next four years introduce you to many people who challenge you, inspire you and show you what is possible when talent is matched with hard work, character and purpose.

Thank you, President Johnson, for personally inviting us in and taking the time to sit down with Matthew and me. It was a meeting I will always remember, and one that made me even more excited for everything ahead for him at FAMU. 🧡💚🐍

Excellence with Caring.

Now it’s his turn. 🥹❤️

Final dinner with my boy before he heads off to college tomorrow. So incredibly proud of you, Matthew, and I can’t wait to watch this next chapter unfold , specially on that baseball field. ⚾️❤️

And knowing you and your sister will both be in Tallahassee makes this mama’s heart a little happier. 🥹

Go chase those dreams my love. This is just the beginning. I love you so much @matthewmidyett ❤️
