I still can’t believe I got to perform my whole new album Eclipsed, with my husband & musical partner @matthewsteeper on decks and keys, 🎹 during what is most likely the first SUNSET total eclipse in Ibiza in 3,000 years. It took many months of planning and preparation and I am so excited to finally share this moment with YOU.

SO EXCITED to be joining the homies @sabaimusic and @iamhoangmusic in Chicago at the Concorde Music Hall on October 9th! We have so much history together and it’s been inspirational seeing the two of them grow into absolute dance music powerhouses.

Anyways it’s been 5 years since I was last in Chicago so pull up early because I’ll be setting the vibes for an epic night!

I’m team HUMAN, what about you? 🙋‍♀️🤖
Just like my music, it’s very important to me that all my art is authentic and real. I put my real life, heart and soul into my lyrics, melodies and the visual representation of them too, and that’s something that AI could never replicate.
People don’t know this, but we actually created a REAL eclipse behind me on the screen with a light and a suspended sphere eclipsing it! 🌙
So grateful for the talented people that came alongside me to accomplish this vision🥰🙏🏻 @johngrs @matthewsteeper @reynkkaneshiro

While AI can be a useful tool, it is not and never should be a replacement for human artist expression and creativity.

It’s actually CRAZY what goes into making an album. 🥹 Looking through my camera roll over the last year made me realize… making the music is the easy part.

Of course there’s writing, producing, recording, mixing, mastering, car tests and obsessing over tiny details no one else will probably ever consciously notice. But then there’s everything else.🫠

Mood boards, whiteboards, Google Docs, group chats, emails, meetings, budgets, rentals, flights, hotels, outfits, hair, makeup, photo shoots, video shoots, artwork, merch, content… editing, retouching, revising, rendering, finding ONE tiny thing wrong, fixing it, rendering again. 🙈

Then somehow you still have to actually put the album into the world: release plans, contracts, credits, metadata, marketing, press, interviews, lyric sheets, captions, deadlines, ads, invoices, thousands and thousands of dollars, and SO many talented people each bringing their own little piece of magic to it.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that is just… life. Airports, hotel rooms, meals between meetings, late nights, tiny wins, stress, nerves, frustration, excitement, crying, laughing, getting overwhelmed and somehow getting inspired all over again. 🤍

You spend YEARS of your life building something that, when it finally reaches everyone else, is compressed into just 68 minutes.

That kind of breaks my brain. 🥹

Because by the time an album is finished, it isn’t just a collection of songs anymore. It holds the places you went, the people who helped, the risks you took, the things that went wrong, the moments that went perfectly, the nights you stayed awake and the person you became while making it.

There are entire chapters of our lives hidden between these songs.

And then one day, all of that chaos, love, work, stress, beauty and life gets condensed into something someone can simply put on their headphones… and feel. 🤍 EDM singer and artist HALIENE sits in her studio
