It is a Beautiful Day! As I watched the sunrise this morning getting my day started, I could only think about how my life has changed over the last two years. As I was being flown to a hospital in Dallas from Lewisville on August 31st 2024, not knowing if I would see my wife that I had just said goodbye to, my kids, or my family and friends ever again. All I knew is that I was in so much pain and that I was in critical danger. Over the next few hours the amazing surgical team would save my life and repair the damage done to my heart from an aortic dissection. After the dust had settled, my family, friends, and this community would wrap your arms around me and help me on this long journey of recovery. Today, two years later I am healthy and starting to feel like myself again. I am so blessed by everyone’s continued support, prayers, and encouragement. I could never express how thankful I am. So, let me just say thank you! Leah, William, Evie, you guys were and are my rock and I am blessed by you 3 every day and I love you so much. As we celebrate, here are a few pics from the last year and may this year bring peace, good health, and an abundance of love!

Senior Night for my oldest. I’m not handling it well, but I’m so proud of the impressive young woman she is becoming. 3 year Letterman, Junior and Senior Year Captain. This program has been a big part of her High School story, and I’m very thankful for that. Thank you to everyone that came to support her and this team.

The first day jitters soon turned into the best memories. Watching you walk in a timid 5 year old and leave surrounded by tears, repeated hugs and friendships that will last a lifetime. Our little town had a big visit today from the boys who back the red, white & blue.

We made it to spring break. ❤️

Homeschooling was the right choice for our family for years. Shifting to public school this year was also right.

Might write a whole post later on ways we can stop fearing or villainizing either option. 🙃

For today, I’m celebrating another milestone of a new adventure and marveling at the kindness of God to our family through His faithfulness and the people and places He has invited us to.

That’s been true of who He is through multiple seasons, and it reminds me I can trust Him whenever He nudges us to the next one.

It’s a great day to be a @mcauliffe_highlander. 🫶🏼
