I have been struggling with my identity as a photographer, filmmaker, and “artist” lately. In a world full of so much chaos, pain, and uncertainty, why do I continue to pursue a career that has lately felt meaningless? What’s the point in all of this?

Then I came across a TED Talk from @inspiredtowrite on “The Case for Making Art When the World is on Fire.” When I tell you I got punched in the gut by this quote, I mean I got *smacked*

I’ve been shooting professionally for over a decade now, and have built a massive body of work that I am super proud of. Yet, I have shared like 0.001% of it online, including a majority of my best and favorite images. There are a million excuses as to why, but ultimately - none of them are good enough when thinking about the bigger picture.

Oftentimes photographers are asked the question, “would you still take pictures if nobody else saw them?” My answer has and will always be “yes,” but it brings me great joy to see other people react to my work; to find the beauty in the moments I’ve captured.

Now, more than ever, we must share the art we create.
