Dear softball,

To the sport who took my summers, weekends, and all my free time. I am forever indebted to you. No amount of gratitude could cover the lessons you’ve taught me, the family you’ve gave me, and the happiness you brought.

To my coaches, Brent and Tim, I wouldn’t wanna do it with anyone else. I am Forever grateful for the both of you. When I first came here in 7th grade, I was welcomed with nothing but open arms. You guys always treated me like family and were my biggest cheerleaders. I’m so grateful to share this game with you guys. I guess from now on I’ll have to be the wolf and not the sheep🙄.

To my teammates, there are no right words to describe how I feel right now. From going 23-0 to being state champs and loosing games along the way, there is no one else I would rather have been on that field with. To bai, Mayc, Olivia, and Nora, you guys are my sisters and I’ve loved getting to play this sport with you girls for the past 5 years. I will always be all my teammates biggest cheerleaders and will continue to cheer you on from a distance. I loved this journey with my girls.

I’ll never fully be ready to say goodbye to softball, but here it is.

I could sit here and tell everyone about how horrible this past year without my dad being earth-side has been or I can enjoy the moments I had. Maybe in another lifetime there is one more tournament, one more post game debrief, or one more hug. Until then, I’ll see you again.
Love,
Your daughter

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dad.
You should be 45 today. It’s crazy to think about how young that is, and how much more life we should’ve had together. I miss you more than I can explain. Life isn’t the same without you, and there isn’t a single day that goes by that I don’t think about you once.

I miss your laugh, your voice, your advice and your support. You were always me and Madden’s biggest supporters and taught us what real strength beyond the gym was.

I hope you continue to watch over us and I hope we’re making you proud. I’d give anything to have one more moment, hug or post game debrief. Until we meet again💔

Happy 45th, Dad. I love you Dad❤️

// “Legends forever exist in every life they touch and inspire.” //

The Iowa Gator family is deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of our founder and head coach, @mattmeek4.

Coach Meek lived life to the fullest sharing his love of the game with not only his children, @hayden.meek9 and @madden_meek.5, but with several of Eastern Iowa’s top youth football prospects. Treating each young athlete as family - investing in them not only on the field, but also in life and in each player’s future.

While right now our hearts are broken and our Gator family is in mourning, we find comfort in the sharing of memories in remembrance of Coach Meek. //

To my favorite football coach, mentor and shoulder to cry on. I will miss you forever. I still don’t have many words nor do I have many thoughts right now. I love you forever buddy and I will miss you for the rest of my life. No more post game debriefs or talks after bad softball games but me and madden will forever carry on your legacy. You were an amazing person and put your whole life into football and all the kids you coached. If you have ever been coached or have met my dad, please leave a memory so we can remember him.

I love you forever. Until I see you again. ❤️
