ABOUT NEST | ⁠
NEST | Design for the Displaced Future is a major public art commission for the 2026 Craft and Design Canberra Festival, responding to the Festival theme of Dissent. Curated by Craft and Design Canberra, the installation brings together a series of individual sculptural works exploring the universal instinct to nest, connect and belong. ⁠
.⁠
With climate change increasingly reshaping communities, landscapes and habitats across the world, NEST asks how we understand our relationships with place, materials and one another in a changing world. Four artists and collaborative teams have been commissioned to respond to this question, each bringing a distinct material language and conceptual approach. ⁠

NEST will be installed and launched from 6pm on 5 November and will remain on public display throughout the Craft and Design Canberra Festival, running 5 to 15 November 2026.

Journeyed up to @magamnsw to view the Northern Beaches’ 2026 Environmental Art & Design Prize exhibition and attend the gallery’s CEAD (Collective for Environmental Art & Design) Panel 2026.

Hearing @andymarksdoes (Founder & Executive Director of the @symbioceneinstitute ) state that architects, designers, and artists have been showing themselves to be the pathfinders to a symbiotic future was 👌

Fellow speakers Marnie Ogg of @darkskyaus and @annezac were also insightful. Thought of Marnie’s message as I ferried back toward the ultra-lit CBD.

Congrats to @studiobenstyles and team for winning the design category of the Prize with The Motherboard 🏆

Great to be part of the Northern Beaches Environmental Art & Design Prize 2026 Meet the Artists & Designers event at @magamnsw today.

It was a pleasure to share a little about my finalist work, the ideas behind the painting and my process of building imagined landscapes through layers of colour, texture and intuitive mark-making.

Wonderful to see such a diverse range of approaches to art and the environment. Also sharing here some of the fabulous works I came across in the exhibition.

Thanks to Katherine and the team at Manly Art Gallery & Museum for organising such a wonderful event.

I couldn’t make the trip down south to see the show in person but big thanks to legend @sarah.dingwall for the snap of our work displayed together. Her glass chain is phenomenal! ⛓️‍💥
