I attended the Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House with @mattski2000 yesterday and it was out of this world. If you can visit, please do. There is still time this afternoon. Be sure not to miss the sculptures in Room M4 and the classical masters in Room M3.

Thank you to my wonderful baby sister @MotherOfAbundance for inviting @Mattski2000 and me, as her fellowship guests at the Royal Society of the Arts (her gorgeous private members club), last Friday.

To work in such opulence, surrounded by beautiful works of art, was just incredible - and to have air conditioning on such a hot day, was the icing on the cake.

The artwork throughout @TheRSAOrg was gorgeous but the Perspective of the Angels exhibition by @FrancesFeatherstone struck a chord with me.

Thank you #Xina💕💕💕

Photos from our #HighgateCemetery (East & West) visit yesterday.

A guided tour of the West Cemetery is very much recommended. Our guide was Julia Johnson - she was brilliant and really brought the history and magic of the cemetery back to life…but not in a creepy way🤣

The cemetery was saved and is still run by the Friends of Highgate cemetery who are mostly volunteers. As it costs £2K per day to keep this London gem open, it is absolutely necessary for them to charge admission and for tours. As a visitor, your money goes to keeping the footpaths and monuments safe to visit and the grounds free from vandalism and private redevelopment.

There are so many beautiful and creative pieces of #MonumentalMasonry. Could this possibly be one of the earliest examples of a photograph being included on a headstone?

Although there are lots of celebrity graves - all of the headstone inscriptions are moving but some are just pure class and worth a read. Who could possibly have deserved the inscription “He Meant Well”? What were they like?

We took a tour of Highgate (West) Cemetery yesterday and I cannot wait to go again!

Our guide was the wonderful Julia Johnson who certainly knows her stuff.

There is a charge to enter and wonder around both the East (more modern) and West Cemeteries and a separate charge for a private tour of the West cemetery. We also wondered around the East Cemetery and saw some beautiful and many more modern headstones which I’ll post next.

Charges are applied because both cemeteries contain rare examples of Victorian #GothicRevival #MonumentalMasonry, contain a host of Victorian (and some contemporary) celebrities, featured in almost every #HammerHorror film, is funded entirely by entrance fees and the National Lottery fund. It is cared for entirely by #FriendsofHighgateCemetary - the local community who stepped in and saved it from both vandalism and private redevelopment.

So, if you can go, please do take a tour of the West Cemetery (or just take a wonder around both) - it’s well worth the visit and a whole afternoon in both cemeteries will cost less than a West End cinema ticket. 😃

We made a whistle stop visit to Copenhagen in August. I decided to sketch as much of our stay as I could.

I couldn’t sketch everything but I think I captured our stay.

Such a beautiful and friendly city. Looking forward to our next visit.

Reverb; The Vinyl Factory at 180 The Strand. Another great exhibition at this magnificent gallery and for me, in parts, it was a trip down memory too.
