🥺🥂😭♥️Tonight’s performance of Big Man. Little Man. was an absolute joy to be in the room for.

As someone who works in both theatre and SEND education, tonight felt almost surreal in its familiarity. The entire team has been incredible, and I genuinely cannot express just how authentic and astonishingly accurate @moses_azadeh ‘s portrayal was. I recognised so much of the young people I teach in his performance, from the smallest mannerisms to the complexities of their everyday experiences.

Both actors were absolutely outstanding, with the portrayal of the teacher ( @jamesdavidcrouch ) equally brilliant and beautifully observed. There were moments that felt almost uncomfortably familiar, in the very best theatrical sense.

A wonderful, moving and incredibly truthful piece of theatre. Huge congratulations to everyone involved, and a heartfelt thank you to the entire team for letting me be a small part of something so special.

And if there were ever any doubt about how deeply this show connected with its audience, this video captures the instant standing ovation it received tonight. Thoroughly deserved!

I’ve been following the development of this piece avidly through its workshops, and I’m so excited to now be joining the team, working with the creatives to shape its visual identity.

The subject matter feels incredibly close to me: a powerful new play about masculinity, SEND, and the courage it takes to speak when the world expects silence.

Drawing on the writer’s ten years of experience working with young people with special educational needs, BIG MAN. LITTLE MAN. follows Tony, a teenager navigating first love and trying to find his place in the world, until an intense relationship spirals into something far darker.

Raw, moving and unflinchingly honest, the play asks us to reconsider consent, control, vulnerability, and who we instinctively choose to protect.
