This may be the first cook book I have ever purchased for myself. After briefly meeting @mattymatheson , I could tell that he's just a genuinely sweet guy. I thought I'd throw my support behind him and try some recipes. A great book to thumb through while I eat my bowl of tuna salad. I already had plans to cross one of his recipes that I found on the web with one of ours tomorrow. But I think the first one I'm going to try from the book is the One Hour Bolognese. Check out his other books and merch at https://mattymatheson.store @mattysworldrules

🍋🍝 Lemon Chicken Piccata , inspired by The Bear.

I finally finished watching The Bear, and its message came to me at the perfect time. To me, the show is about family, hospitality, and being a light to others, even when life gets difficult.

It reminded me of my grandfather, who was more than a grandfather to me. He was a father figure and someone I deeply looked up to. He treated everyone with kindness and went out of his way to help those in need. He taught me, through his actions, the importance of treating people like family. ❤️

Making this dish for my fiancée on my day off is another step in my culinary journey. With culinary school ahead next year, I want to keep challenging myself, become more creative, and eventually develop recipes of my own.

Life can get loud sometimes, but when I’m in the kitchen, everything seems to slow down. I find myself falling into the rhythm of cooking, where everything begins to flow together, and I can be fully present in the moment. It’s a place where I find peace, even when life feels overwhelming.

I think one of the biggest lessons in life is that nobody is perfect. We all go through struggles, make mistakes, and face situations that challenge us. What matters is how we learn from those experiences, grow stronger, and choose to treat one another with more understanding, patience, and kindness.

At the end of the day, family is about showing up for one another, growing together, and remembering that there’s always room to become better. ❤️‍🩹👨‍🍳

After so many of you recommended Mitchell’s Bakery & Marketplace, we finally stopped in to check it out!

I remember coming here years ago when it was called Buns Master, but I had no idea just how much they offer today!

Family owned and operated since 1983, they’ve got everything from fresh breads and buns to deli meats, homemade fudge, baked treats, prepared meals, groceries and even a nice selection of gluten-free options!

We grabbed some fresh buns and deli meats for the boys’ lunches, and it was great getting reacquainted with another longtime Niagara business!

Have you been to Mitchell’s? What’s your favourite thing to grab?
