World-Class Golf on Hawaii Island. Sharing a Legacy of Tradition and Aloha. #maunakeagolf

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

That’s a wrap on the Second Annual Cuisines of the Sun® Golf Classic hosted by Chef Alan Wong Presented by @hpmhomedesign⛳☀️

Yesterday, golfers took on the legendary @maunakeagolf along the Kohala Coast, fueling up at chef stations from 6 of Hawai’i Islands top chefs between fairways and cooling off with cocktails and ice cold @stellaartios in the ocean breeze!

The day ended above par at the 19th Hole Awards Dinner, with a menu inspired by Alan Wong’s classic flavors.
Mahalo to our chefs, mixologists, sponsors, and every golfer who swung the “Wong” way with us! 🏌️

Meet us on the greens next year!

Aloha Golf yes!! 🌺

Most beautiful course I’ve ever experienced!! Thank you @maunakeagolf for an afternoon to remember!

Fell in love with a local seltzer, caddied Em, Brynn learned to drive the super lovely carts, and three of us had more fun than one of us 😂. Cheers to the wild humidity and 4+ beautiful hours of family time is paradise 🌊🌴

Life gets real interesting when you believe in a universal plan… 🏝️

There is joy where confusion existed…
Light appears where darkness visited...
And people show up who feel like they may have been there all along.

Winner winner, chicken dinner, well, not actually, but damn close. Team event winners day 1, Vicki 2nd overall in the women's section, and Team 3rd overall. Most importantly though, we won the daily bets against Team Parker, well done team Vicki, Guy#1 and Di.

Thanks to @pacificgolfmngt for a well run tournament. Loved the new format, playing 4 different courses with a rest day in the middle. Some of us didn't rest but went and played golf. I feel you have to, with so many great courses close by. The Westin at Hapuna is a first class resort, awesome views across the water, they have a gym, spa, beach, pools, importantly one is an adult pool and all day drinks service.

Day 3 was at Manau Kea one of the oldest courses on the Island and toughest for our team, only making 85 points. The 3rd hole is played across the ocean, visually intimidating. One of the best we played, rivalled potentially by the 11th, which was playing 185m into the fan. The balance of the course has lots of elevation changes as it heads into the hills, so distance control paramount.

Day 4 was at the recently renovated Hapuna course, with the green surfaces being the best of the 4 we played. Again, lots of elevation and if it wasn't for a stumble at the tough 18th, it so could have been a great Team day and personal glory for Vicki. As it was, we managed 90 points and Vicki 40 on her own. Consistently mediocre stuff for me, with 74 75 78 and 73 for the four rounds.

Couple of fun dinners with Team Parker, at Seafood Bar in the local Harbour and Pizza night at the Westin.

Mahalo, thank you! Can't wait for next year.

We're making a quick stop back on the Big Island. 🌋

Stop #7 - Mauna Kea Resort on Hawai’i

Some courses are legendary. Mauna Kea is one of them. 🌺🌴

Mauna Kea and Westin Hapuna courses have been bucket-list rounds for golfers around the world since 1964. A Robert Trent Jones Sr. masterpiece and an Arnold Palmer design along the dramatic Kohala Coast. The ocean hole. The lava. The history. Two courses, one iconic resort. It doesn't get much more iconic than this.
