My friend is gone. I met Maven in 2009, before I even moved to New Orleans. He made my first set of fangs and opened his home to me when a series of unfortunate events left me out on the streets in a foreign country. I will never forget that. He was kind, generous to a fault, and made me feel safe. At a time when I was incredibly vulnerable, he stepped up as a community leader and a good friend, a good man, and made sure I was okay. He continued to advocate for me—and for so many others—even when speaking up was hard and put him at personal risk.

My heart goes out to everyone who loved him and who truly knew the quality of his heart. Things were supposed to get better. This is so deeply unfair.

I dropped by @nolavampireapothecary last night to see my good friend @mavenlore ! Maven made me my first set of fangs in 2009 and while they still fit & look great, they no longer match my tooth tone perfectly so it was time for a refresher! This is honestly one of the most fun and unique souvenirs you can take with you if you’re visiting New Orleans for Halloween (or any time!) The Apothecary also has great food & drinks as well as a tarot reader on site ✨ - this has been my local spooky recommendation for the day. Hoping to share more travel tips for visitors who want to the local scoop on witchy things to do in New Orleans 🧛‍♀️
