California employment laws continue to evolve, and 2025 brings another round of significant updates for employers. Most take effect January 1, 2026.

Key changes include: expanded protected leave for crime victims (AB 406), new limits on “stay-or-pay” agreements tied to training costs (AB 692), permanent rest break flexibility for emergency-response refinery employees (AB 751), and extended recall/retention rules for certain hospitality and building service employers through 2027 (AB 858).

Several bills update compliance systems across the board: extended independent contractor exemptions (AB 1514), new employee rights notices (SB 294), clarification that bias mitigation training is not discrimination (SB 303), stricter pay data reporting with increased demographic categories and mandatory penalties (SB 464), expanded personnel file access to include training records (SB 513), and broader Paid Family Leave eligibility starting in 2028 (SB 590).

Employers will also see new requirements under Cal-WARN (SB 617), expanded equal pay protections including extended recovery periods (SB 642), and stronger enforcement of gratuity protections (SB 648).

Although some closely watched bills were vetoed, the overall impact remains significant. California employers should begin reviewing handbooks, agreements, job postings, and notice obligations to ensure readiness.

🎉 Big birthday shoutout to Chase! 🎉

This kid joined us this year and has already proven he’s a total game changer. From his positive energy to his clutch at-bats, Chase brings so much to the team. Whether it’s locking it down on the field or bringing the energy in the dugout, he’s the definition of a team player.

We couldn’t be more excited to have him in the mix. And this is just the beginning, Chase. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for you and this team. We are lucky to have you. You are an all around stud!!

Happy Birthday, Chase!

We are constantly getting asked from players & parents what should we work on this week?? 🤔

•

Which is where majority of the reps will happen since we only have 60 minutes….

•

So we created an Online Infield Academy to allow not only our in person clients but remote clients to have structured workouts & coaching throughout the week!

•

This gives the athlete ownership of their athletic career! As well as ideas for how to be more involved in your children’s development !

•

This app is for infielders & families who are committed to their long term development ❗️

🚨 Get access to Coach Drew Walsh on a weekly basis
