Did we hop the graveyard wall to find Jonny’s great- great aunt’s grave? That’s something we’ll never tell 🤫 but we found it!

While in the town of #Bardejov, Jonny mentioned to his family that he was there. “We had family from Bardejov” - what?!?! Finding out all the information live, #connecting to a place you never expected, discovering your #history, your #heritage, seeing proof - that’s what’s so #special about our #Poland trip.

Wednesday morning davening in the Lancut Synagogue. A beautifully restored shul which is meticulously looked after by the most genuine non-Jew. Why does he dedicate his life to looking after and restoring Polish Jewish history? Because he understands its importance and it’s necessity for others to learn what once was and what happened in hopes that it will never happens again. Plus he loves the Jewish nation, a much needed reminder that maybe we are not alone.

No two #Poland trips are ever the same. The itinerary is ever changing as we try our best to incorporate the family histories of our participants. Their living legacies.

Yesterday, we visited Kaluszyn, where Paloma’s family on both sides were from and left due to persecution. To return to that town, to learn about its #history and its people - to stand as #proud #jews and sing where a synagogue once stood, that’s really something #special.

What does remain a constant on our Poland #trips, is the beauty of seeing - of being - the #light in the darkness.

In Poland, we walk where the most horrific atrocities happened and hear stories that shouldn’t be real. We cry, our hearts broken, but we also #dance, we #sing, we embrace, because we ARE still here. They didn’t win. We’re stronger than ever, and we will carry on their memories. Never forgotten and never again. We promise. #amyisraelchai
