And just like that… it’s football season again. 🏈❤️ Last night, I was up until 3 a.m. handwashing cheer uniforms, hang-drying football practice pants, and soaking multiple pairs of quite possibly the most disgusting football gloves on earth. And I was so happy. Because this season is different. Maybe a little different. Maybe a lot. This is Max’s senior year. Madi’s sophomore year — and her first year as a varsity cheerleader. And for one last season, all three of my loves will be on that field together. Jeff coaching. Max playing. Madi cheering. Oof. That one hits hard just typing it. I’ve been thinking about how strange it is that motherhood asks us to hold two completely opposite feelings at exactly the same time. To know you’re watching some of the “lasts” with one child while still getting to experience so many “firsts” with another. To feel your heart ache because something is ending, while at the very same time feeling almost impossibly full because you’re so damn proud of the people they’re becoming. How can something make you so happy and hurt just a little at the same time? Maybe that’s the price we pay for loving this much. My mom used to say, “Sometimes love hurts.” I think I finally understand what she meant. So, here we go. One more football season. One more year of Friday night lights. One more season with my three loves on the field. And I plan to soak up every single second of it. We interrupt this marriage to bring you… FOOTBALL SEASON. 🏈❤️ #momlife #senior #kids #ceo #football
