Hi friends. I’m devastated to give the update that I tore my right ACL (the “good” one) last week in our final ultimate frisbee game of regionals weekend, where we also qualified for nationals for the first time in program history. I will have to sit out of both the ultimate frisbee and roundnet national championships this month, and I’m unsure what will come after this next year of recovery.

If you’ve been here awhile, you know that this is my third ACL tear and will be my 4th major knee surgery since 2017. I have some long-winded thoughts to share about the entire journey.

Over the years, I have had so many people criticize me and ask me why I would possibly put myself at risk by continuing to play high-level sports after the history of injury I’ve had. To me, it’s always been an easy answer. The experiences, feelings, and especially the people that sports have brought me have always felt worth the risk of another injury.

If I had stepped away from sports after my second ACL repair in 2020, the past 6 years would not have brought me friends from all over the world and experiences that I never would have dreamed were possible. These same friends have never failed to show up for me in all facets of my life, and I know they will continue to show up for me as I navigate this next recovery.

I am so sad that this happened again. It does not feel fair. I’m heartbroken that I’m doing it without Milo. Recovery is going to suck, as always. I also do not have any regrets for how I’ve lived the past 6 years. Roundnet brought me so many places and experiences with so many friends. Ultimate frisbee brought me the challenge of putting my ego aside and learning something entirely new, all alongside teammates who quickly became some of my best friends.

Thank you all for your support and love. I can assure you I’ll post lots of updates about recovery. I’d also love visitors if you want an excuse to take a trip to San Diego 🫶
