One stage. On purpose.

Way Down in Mississippi was never meant to be the kind of festival where you’re checking a schedule, sprinting across town, or choosing which artist you’re willing to miss.

It was built around one stage so everybody hears the same songs, shares the same stories, and gets to be part of the same room.

Way Down in Mississippi is small on purpose. Close enough that the crowd feels like part of the show.

There are still a few seats in the room.

A little rain never kept a pure country crowd at home. 🌧️🚲

For our 10th ride, 145 riders registered.

The most we’ve ever had in 10 years of riding for Sloan.

The skies opened up on Saturday, and y’all came anyway.

Some of you pedaled every soggy mile. Some of you swapped the ride for a breakfast burrito and a dry spot under the pavilion, then stayed for the party.

You were here, and you made the day.

By lunchtime, the rain had finally let up. Then Max and Heather Stalling picked up their instruments and brought the house down. 🎶

We’re still humming.

Sloan used to say if we’re not having fun, what’s the point? Saturday, rain and all, we had a ball.

Dear friends traveled from near and far, more of you than we’ve ever seen, just to be here and celebrate with us. That means the world to our family.

And because of you, we’re on track to raise more than ever before for the Caddo, Hubbard Creek, and Wayland Volunteer Fire Departments. 💛

We’ll share the final total as soon as it’s in.

To every rider, volunteer, sponsor, vendor, and neighbor who braved the weather with us: thank you.

The @bryantxsongwriterfest is finally here this weekend, and I’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time!

I wrote a little about why I’m excited, from getting to see one of my all-time favorites, Radney Foster, to the incredible lineup, the VIP experience, the BVLive.com-sponsored buskers throughout downtown, and the pretty huge honor of getting to host the Stafford stage both days.

It’s going to be a heck of a weekend in downtown Bryan.

Read my full thoughts, and then come on out and experience it for yourself.

Remember that special guest we said we were keeping under our hat? 🎶

It’s Max and Heather Stalling, one of Sloan’s favorites.

They’re coming to Breckenridge City Park on October 3 to play our post-ride lunch. Max on guitar and lead vocals, Heather on fiddle and harmony.

@max_stalling has been playing Texas dancehalls and honky-tonks for more than 20 years, and Heather has been winning fiddle contests since she was a kid.

So here’s how ride day ends.

You roll back into the park, grab a plate, and find a spot under the Pavilion. There’s a chair with your name on it. The kids are still going at the bounce house. And there’s live Texas music carrying across the whole park while you eat.

Somebody always starts dancing. 💛

This is our 10th year, and 100% of net profits still go to the Caddo, Hubbard Creek, and Wayland Volunteer Fire Departments.

Come ride with us. Then stay for the music.
