Can’t wait to take Bo back to all the places he went before he was even born. 🤍

@maxdesantis_ made this little Super 8 edit for me months ago and I finally got my hands on it 🎞️ A time capsule from when we were still waiting for you.

Magic Island, A compelling documentary by @maxdesantis_ about the cultural history of Uluwatu, how surfing has helped shape the tourism that built the local economy, as well as the dangerous realities it faces due to modern greed and a growing disconnection from nature.

I had the pleasure of meeting Max randomly while surfing at Uluwatu early last year. I was over there solo and remember complimenting him on how well he was surfing, being the personable guy he is we gelled instantly. We got chatting and discovered we had mutual interests in creative outlets, as well as discovering that his little brother @hookahea , who also went on to contribute and co-produce the music for the film, was living in my hometown in Oz. We met up after our surf and he invited me back to his home to show me snippets of what he was working on, and I was instantly keen.

Fast forward six months, Max flew here to Byron, and he, Kahea and I spent a week in the studio doing big days to get my contributions to the movie complete. It all came very fluidly and, for the most part, the sessions were really easy and relaxed (except for my drum takes on one of the songs that we ended up scrapping lol).

I’m stoked to have met both these legends and to have had a piece to play in a film about a place and its culture that I love so much.

You can find the film out now on @primevideo & @appletv

The last Uluwatu Single Fin Classic was a reminder of what this gathering has always been about. A global surf community united by a shared passion, staying true to the roots of single fin surfing while creating new stories, new friendships, and memories that will live on long after the final heat.

The 6th Uluwatu Single Fin Classic: The Movie captures those moments. A celebration of the surf, the people, and the spirit of Uluwatu, inviting everyone to experience what makes this event so special, whether you were on the cliff or watching from afar.

Premiering 14 August 2026 at Single Fin Uluwatu.

Until then, the next chapter begins. The 7th Uluwatu Single Fin Classic returns 14–16 August. See you on the cliff.
