Ripelliamo e saliamo in vetta.

❄️ Welcome back to ULL's 'Face to Face with Our Ambassador'. The ULL ambassador we are featuring today is: Massimo Faccini.

Your biography in few lines:
"I was born in a small town at 900m in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, studied architecture, and try to juggle work and passions. My father passed on to me a passion and respect for the mountains, and from an early age I put down some roots in Valle D'Aosta, at the foot of Mont Blanc."

When did you start ski mountaineering and what does this way of moving in the mountains mean to you?
"I learned about backcountry eight years ago but for several years I raced in motocross championships, and in enduro mtb. As a result winter was dedicated to preparing for races, until a injury in 2019 made me realize I just wanted to be in the mountains as much as possible. And backcountry is absolutely the best way for great adventures. Finding yourself alone, skiing steep couloirs and creating tracks that don't exist. It is hard to explain what magic is inside those two planks once you put them to go into the mountains. It's primitive, adrenaline-pumping, unique."

Which Apennine spot you have found most magical?
"I love my small steep mountains, and I try to exploit them as much as possible, but we are also powder hunters. We often improvise long trips, it is also a good excuse to discover new places. The weather has led us to ski the legendary meters of snow in Abruzzo, and I must say that Majella has enchanted me more than once. On the perfect day it might feel like you're in Japan, on others like you're on a volcano in Chile, over perfect firn."

What do you do when you are not skiing?
"Biking always remains a faithful companion for adventures. I also go running, and in recent years I have taken up climbing. Of course in all of this I always bring my camera"

Do you have any particular ski projects for this winter?
"The plans are there, but from experience better not to talk about them. Something steep, maybe far from home."

Three words to let us know what attracted you to the ULL project:
"Extreme, Radical, Exploratory."

First backcountry outing of the season for the ULL crew!
Amazing ascents from Skyway, photoshoots with our ambassadors, and the first turns in the freshly fallen snow on gentle slopes gave us the boost we were looking for!

The day continued with a well-deserved lunch at home, - our special base camp - all together, amidst good laughs, life stories and new friendships, and ended with a sunset among the larches, before the snow came to cover everything.

For ULL's first meeting, we really couldn't ask for better: a stunning, truly unforgettable day!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone!
