@maxfisher22 excellent analysis. Women’s economic role modernized faster than the domestic bargain did. They gained the responsibility of providing without proportionally shedding the responsibility of caregiving and household labor.

The dating crisis may have less to do with women giving up on love than with an old bargain failing to keep pace with a new reality.

Women entered the workforce, became breadwinners, and gained financial independence. But the domestic load did not disappear with it. In many relationships, they are still expected to manage the home, the children, the emotional labor — while also earning.

Women started making the bread. Somehow, they were still expected to bake it too.

When partnership adds another shift rather than sharing the existing one, being single begins to look less like a failure and more like a rational choice.
