🎥 We had a challenging but exciting production - filming a roller coaster ride! After thorough tech scouts, many calls & discussions, we were able to safely get great footage at @lunaparknyc on Tony’s Express.

🎢 In this clip, you can see how the camera (@arri Alexa Mini) was rigged to the ride and also see how the footage turned out!

🤩 Production @studiomatter @bonniechoi_ @justinmrigby thanks to the amazing crew: DP @aschmidtdp , AC @marcosislatetoinsta , Key Grip @maxgarstak @betswilkins, and Models @akacleo @revellcarpenter @eleanormiller.16 @flotoy .

🫶🏻Also, special thanks to the team @verbproducts @luiscolon @courtneyling who trusted us on this fun project!

A couple moonboxes for @wakeupthegiant & gaffer @tropical___products
With little vertical space, hardmounting the boxes straight to the webbed joists would have been ideal. However, the scale and detail of art department’s build & our tight schedule wouldn’t allow us to take over the floor with the support needed to hardmount.
The approach would be setting manual chain hoists individually, after taking care with the layout process. This kept us relatively nimble and allowed art dept the space to work around us. The skeleton of the boxes were built off stage, at the ready to be rolled in and sent up. We utilized 1.25” blackpipe for the crossmembers that would get picked by the hoists & that the s60’s would be supported by. 1.25” blackpipe is a favorite of mine for its compatibility with standard 1.25” speedrail fittings, impressive deflection tolerance over speedrail, and its weight savings over its 1.5” dia counterpart.
While the depth of the boxes wasnt ideal, a 1/2 grid baffle in between the units and the trim of the box helped compensate for its lack of depth.
From there, the box was mounted, skinned, capped & sent up.
Though there were a lot of needles to thread, the moonboxes gave effortless ambiance with a nice quality for the sets they supported—very helpful for the coverage we had to shoot. Not to mention the incredible team @maxgarstak @hana.j.kim @cangarone83

Some of my favorite landscapes from Patagonia. A magical, rugged place I’d dreamed of going to for years - I’m grateful to have been able to spend so much time there with such good friends
