Seeing this photo in the Condé Nast Traveler May/June Hot List issue brought back so many memories. It was taken while serving lunch atop Tower Butte, overlooking Lake Powell, with the incredible team at EXP Journeys—friends I’ve had the privilege of sharing countless adventures with over many years.

I don’t take any of it for granted: the breathtaking places, the long days, the shared meals, the conversations around the table, knowing and loving those who grow our food, and, most of all, the friendships that have come from this journey. I feel incredibly blessed to have crossed paths with so many remarkable people from around the world who have become more like family than clients or colleagues.

My deepest gratitude is for the gift of those relationships. They’ve shaped who I am as a chef and as a fellow human, and they’ve given me a lifetime of memories to reflect on. I don’t often stop to look back—usually, I keep both eyes fixed on what’s next. Thank you, @sarahT, for sending me these photos and inviting me to stop, breathe, and sit with gratitude for all of you.

Here’s to continuing the adventure—creating new experiences with old friends, welcoming new ones into our food family, and sharing unforgettable meals in some of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. More memories await.

I’ve been blessed to call 2 very special ladies “mom” in my lifetime…but over the last 5 years I have been adopted by another incredible lady, @shirleyfreeman6453, “Grandma” Shirley (as she loves to be called). She’s a constant source of love and encouragement and I know without a doubt that she prays fervently for me and my family! Thank you @maxiedonaldjohnson for sharing her with us…she’s such a gift! (We love Larry too, of course)

Always honored to work with @expjourneys & @americansafaricamp “Imagine swapping RVs for helicopters, exclusive camps, private chefs, and cultural storytellers—this is luxury safari-style travel…but in the American wild. From a hovering brunch on Navajo land and elk-sausage over fire to Michelin-worthy digs outside Arches and Canyonlands, national parks are getting a lavish upgrade. Whether it’s sleeping under the stars at Camp Sarika or chartering across Grand Teton and Yellowstone by air—adventure just got ultra-elevated. 🏞️✨“

What an epic day from sunrise at Haleakala Crater to sunset from a private beachfront house in Lahaina. It's tough being gone over the holidays but @maxiedonaldjohnson and I are delivering memories to special clients!!

(👑 of the latergram is at it again) In late October, our crew of 8 adventured across the Grand Canyon - and back! - together. At the outset, everybody knew somebody in the group but nobody knew everybody. At the end, we were all part of each other. Thank you @jklane for bringing us together, and thank you Burrito Mules for an incredible 46-ish miles of Rim to Rim to Rim — so much 💛 for you all.

R2R2R in summary: We got a random group of rad crazy people together. We kicked ass & had the best time imaginable over ~45 miles & 18 hours & change. We made new friends who are now bonded forever. It was epic and I will never forget it.

An exciting first for us!! A new partnership in Moab is allowing us to build camps up on a mesa just South of town. Incredible views from Arches NP to the North and the La Sal Mountains to the Southeast.

Nothing makes me happier than watching someone reach their goals. I am especially happy when they exceed their own expectations. But when they run a 100k PR and follow that up with a half marathon PR exactly 6 days later, I am joyful!

Congratulations to P42R’s own Maxi Johnson who just did exactly that.

On a side note, stay tuned to find out what the rockstar standing next to him does this summer!
