Inspired by the life and legacy of Guadeloupean writer Maryse Condé, the duet explores memory, resilience and the enduring connections we carry with us beyond what can be seen.

Their remarkable partnership, expressive movement and emotional honesty captivated audiences in Howard Davis Park, creating a truly unforgettable moment. It was a privilege to welcome these exceptional artists and share this powerful work as part of Ballet in the Park 2026.

Fresh from the Royal Ballet and Opera’s International Draft Works, Paris Opera Ballet artist Maxime Thomas and Gladys Foggea bring À perte de vue et au-delà (Beyond What the Eye Can See) to Ballet in the Park.

Created and performed by Thomas alongside Foggea, the duet is a moving tribute to the celebrated Guadeloupean writer Maryse Condé. Inspired by her life and resilience, the work explores connection, memory and the ways we continue to carry one another beyond what is visible. Critics praised the performance for its remarkable partnering and emotional honesty, calling it one of the standout works of this year’s Draft Works.

Tragique, puissant et captivant, le légendaire Rigoletto de Verdi fait son grand retour à Lausanne après 20 ans d’absence ! 🤩

Porté par des airs parmi les plus célèbres du répertoire lyrique, ce chef-d’œuvre du bel canto mêle passion, vengeance et destin dans un drame d’une intensité bouleversante. ❤️‍🔥

Cette production est présentée dans la mise en scène poétique de Richard Brunel, qui déplace le drame au cœur d’une compagnie de ballet. L’Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne sera dirigé pour la première fois par Giulio Cilona. 🪄
