That’s a wrap #summer2026

Not gonna lie…this one is hitting me tonight.

After two exhausting days and a 14-hour drive from Michigan to Alabama, we finally made it to Tuskegee to move Max in for his freshman year.

Tomorrow morning we move him into his apartment. And in a couple days, we’re supposed to hug him, say goodbye and fly back home without him.

Yeah…I’m not ready for that.

After all that driving, I figured tonight we’d crash early and get some sleep before the craziness starts tomorrow.

Apparently I forgot who my son is.

At 9:00 tonight, Max calls his coach and asks him to let him into the Tuskegee gym.

Two hours later…he’s still in there working.

And I just smiled.

Because that’s Max.

That’s ALWAYS been Max.

Different teams. Different gyms. Different levels. It’s never mattered. The kid just works. Nobody told him to go tonight. Nobody made him go. After 14 hours in a car, he just wanted to get in the gym.

And I think that’s when it really hit me.

Somewhere along the way, that little boy I drove to practices, tournaments and gyms all over the place grew up.

Now I’m dropping off a young man at Tuskegee University to chase the dream he’s worked so damn hard for.

Max, your mom and I couldn’t be prouder of you — not because you’re playing college basketball, but because of the young man you’ve become.

Leaving you here is going to suck.

But I know this is exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Go chase it, son. Give it everything you have — just like you always have.

And if I ever wonder where you are or what you’re doing down here…

I have a feeling I’ll know exactly where to find you.

In the gym. 🏀❤️

Love you, Max. More than you’ll ever know. #whitechocolatedontmelt
