On this day, October 13, 2023, Reagan Youth’s “The Poss Tapes: 1981–1984” arrived on CD & cassette thru New Red Archives.

Drawn from longtime band associate Steve Poss’s archive, this collection brings together early demos, alternate versions & CBGB recordings, w/ liner notes by bassist Al Pike.

A raw look back at Dave Insurgent & Paul Cripple… the early years of one of New York Hardcore’s most outspoken bands! Salute to the Legends! Rest in Peace to Dave, Paul & Andy.

In celebration of Halloween, Maximum Rocknroll just did a piece on the stellar Misfits compilation by Elektriske Plader, on which we featured the song 'Horror Hotel'.
It's a great 50-minute listen that we can only recommend, and we of course thank MR for their kind words for our contribution.

The photograph attached is from our Misfits cover set in Germany last year!

Zu’s 3rd Annual Murderween Party episode is (a)live! Getting to kick off the spooky season early has made this weird year even weirder and more colorful, and it was wonderful getting to spend it with friends🖤🖤 BIG thanks to the “All Hell Breaks Loose - A Tribute To The Misfits” LP comp for coming through and saving the day (Denmark knows how to party!) 🎃👻🦇

On this day, October 11, 2019, Cleopatra Records dropped “Punk Rock Halloween II: Louder, Faster & Scarier.”

Reagan Youth, MDC, The Vandals, The Casualties, Down By Law, Tsunami Bomb & more brought punk rock to Halloween, mixing original material with some unexpected covers. The full two-CD edition packed in twenty-eight tracks.

Seven years later & this has some great bands. Salute to the Legends!

Who’s your pick from this lineup?

On this day, October 10, 2006, Rhino Records unveiled “American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock 1980–1986.”

The twenty-six track soundtrack to Paul Rachman & Steven Blush’s documentary brought together the Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat, SSD, Negative Approach, Cro-Mags & more. This is a snapshot of the bands & regional scenes that built American Hardcore.

Two decades later & it’s still a powerful intro to a movement built from the ground up. Salute to all the Legends!

We’re genuinely humbled by this. We never expected anyone to describe DCxPC Live in these terms, and reading these words in @maxrnr means more than we can really express.

A huge thank you to Jake Joyce @jakexcounty for taking the time to listen to and review our @halfdizzyband / @chumhuffer split LP.

We’re just trying to do our small part to document the bands, shows, and communities that make punk rock so special. Getting to work with bands like Half Dizzy and ChumHuffer is what makes all of this worthwhile.

And of course, a huge thank you to the people who helped capture and bring these performances to vinyl.

HALF DIZZY
Recorded by Mike Longo at Mr. Beery’s.
Mixed and mastered by Joshua “Danger” Dobbs at Danger Room Recording Services.

CHUMHUFFER
Live audio captured by Cameron Wustenhoff at Blue Point Brewery.
Mixed and mastered by Jast Collum.

Thank you to both bands for trusting us with their music, to everyone who has been part of these recordings, and to everyone who has picked up a record or supported what we’re doing.

We’re grateful to be a small part of this community.

DCxPC Live Vol. 45 is available now through our website and Bandcamp.

It’s getting colder these days so time for a FIX? Available for sale on red vinyl at online recordstore Music Non-Stop (see link in BIO).

“Hailing from Lansing, Michigan, The Fix existed for only a brief window between 1980 and 1982. Despite their short lifespan, they were foundational in defining the ultra-fast, raw sound of American hardcore. They famously holds the distinction of releasing the very first record on the legendary Touch and Go label (the Vengeance 7”). Cold Days serves as the definitive retrospective of a band that burned out before the genre exploded globally.

Musically, Cold Days is a masterclass in blistering speed, angular guitar work, and sheer hostility. Unlike the more melodic approach of some of their Southern California contemporaries, The Fix favored a dark, gritty, and relentlessly driving rhythm section paired with Steve Miller’s frantic, snarling vocals.

The production is raw and unpolished, exactly as early hardcore should be. Tracks like “Vengeance” and “Draft Me” hit with a blunt-force trauma that sounds remarkably ahead of its time, bridging the gap between late-70s punk rock and the extreme speed of the mid-80s thrash scene. It is a seamless listen, despite being pieced together from separate sessions, because the band’s furious energy never wavers for a second”
